Did you know that over 90% of the food sent out in emergency food parcels is donated by residents, community groups, and businesses in Bassetlaw? All donations make an incredible different to those dealing with food insecurity. At present there are more food, toiletry, and cleaning products leaving our warehouse than there are being donated, due to increased demand driven by the current cost-of-living crisis.
So, with that in mind we want you to know where you can make donations and what items we need.
The Food Hub in Manton (Community Way off Shrewsbury Road) takes donations of food, toiletries and cleaning products, as well as non-food donations of clothes, bric-a-brac and other household items. It’s open from Monday to Thursday 10-4, and until 3pm on Friday’s.
Similarly, the Retail Shop in Retford (Unit E, The Buttermarket) takes both non-food and food donations. The funds raised from selling non-food items support our running costs. The shop is open Monday to Thursday 10-2, and on Friday’s you’ll find the us on a stall on the Retford Market, weather permitting.
You can also find donation bins in most supermarkets and a range of the smaller convenience stores across Bassetlaw. To find the full list of donation points please visit our donation page.
If you need an emergency food parcel please call through to Bassetlaw District Council on 01909 533 533 to log your referral and a member of our team will make contact regarding the request.
