On Tuesday 24th March Trustees of Bassetlaw Food Bank had to make a very difficult decision to suspend its current activities to enable it to protect its volunteers and staff.
Due to the complexity of its operation and volume of demand the charity was no-longer able to provide a safe working environment within government guidelines.
Bassetlaw Food Bank food donation boxes in local supermarkets will continue to be emptied by the district council and used for a community response. All donations to the distribution centres are suspended for the time being. All other collection points are also suspended for now and will be reinstated as soon as the charity is able to operate safely.
In the meantime, staff and volunteers of Bassetlaw Food Bank will continue to work hard behind the scenes to prepare the charity to restart its services. During this time the charity are calling for financial donations to help purchase stock to replenish its shelves so a normal delivery of its services can begin immediately it is safe to do so.
The charity is in the process of setting up a JustGiving page to help those wishing to make a donation. Please check our website and Facebook page for details. Cheque donations can be made payable to Bassetlaw Food Bank and posted to The Manager, Bassetlaw Food Bank, c/o BCVS The Old Abbey School. Priorswell Road. Worksop. Notts S80 2BU.
Thank you for all your support to our work and very much look forward to being back to full operations as soon as possible to serve all those in our local community who find themselves for one reason or another in crisis.
