When you read ‘Harvest Festival’, what do you think of?

Perhaps it’s pumpkins and gourds, maybe it’s gratitude and giving, or possibly the shortening days ahead.

At Bassetlaw Food Bank, the Harvest Festival period is full of generosity. Each year local churches, schools and community groups gather food to mark this celebration. And then they donate the, usually mountainous, pile of goods to BFB. Last year we received donations from 55 schools, churches and community groups!

Every time it warms our hearts.

Every time it sets us up for the busiest time ahead, winter.

Every time it reminds us of what a wonderful community we’re a part of.

And every time it means that your neighbour, your old school friend, your colleague, your family member that’s struggling, is fed.

We can’t thank every individual for their generosity but know that we are grateful for these vital resources that support the increased demand faced during the colder months.
